One of the things I love to do is share my music. With a collection of close to 5,000 songs on iTunes, my collection includes various genres and I can’t say I have one favorite.

I’m going to try to do these regularly - Sometimes random, sometimes they will have a theme…all from my music collection.

So tell me what you think. I’d love to see your comments on these!

It’s official… altqc.com will be launching in 2009.  It will be a simple website, hopefully, with posts for community news and events as well as a email newsletter.

Bookmark the page now….  altqc.om!  and check back often!

    I’ve been thinking again… yeah, i know that’s a scary thought….

I thought when I gave up TheQC project that there would be another resource available for Charlotte area GLBT community news via email.  It seems all organizations have their own lists as always but there’s not one all-encompassing list.  I thought the Community Center would take this on but at this point I don’t think that will happen any time soon.  And actually, I’m not sure if the Center would incorporate all the news I envision with a culture guide.

So being that I don’t like what I see…or don’t see in this matter…I’m thinking about starting up the newsletter again.

Should I or shouldn’t I?  I had planned another project - called Operation Gay America but I think that may be too big for what I have time for right now.  I’m also involved with Pride Charlotte for 2009.  This will likely be my last year involved there so that will free up some time.

So a news service is a lot less time involvement and I could always get some help from anyone interested.  What I envision is a newsletter with LGBT community news - events, organizational news, politics, theatre, outdoors events, music of interest at some of the live clubs, etc.

As for a name…I same for the service. I still have TheQC.net domain registered and the hosting is still current (until February) but I’m not sure if that’s the right name.  I’m not sure if I want a Q name for queer because Q seems to be overused these days.  A play on the QC (Queen City - Charlotte’s nickname) is tempting. But I have a couple of other ideas.

Will you help me decide?  Which one of these do you like?  Would you subscribe to the newsletter?  How would I market the newsletter?

Here’s a few ideas - these are available and some I may have already registered.

    AltQC.com
    TheQC.net
    QueerSay.org

Any others?  And lastly….should I do this again?

Yesterday and today I laid a project of mine to rest because interest just really did not pick up in the 4 months I gave it.  It was a reinvention of an email newsletter I did from 1997 to 2004.  But in this day, the web is more expansive and there are so many news services around that it would take a lot of major work and money to get make the project successful.  So I think it was best to lay it to rest now before it ends up costing me a fortune.

I had been considering this decision for a while.  But the good news is that I have another project in the works.  The new project is also web based and will be a parody on another site.  I am really excited about the new project and think it will get a lot of interest both locally and beyond.  Many of the details are still being developed including the site name but as soon as the web domain is registered, development will begin.

It will require involvement from many creative people so watch this space for more details.  It’s going to be great!!!!

Another year that I didn’t get to see a live drum corps show so I was stuck watching live broadcasts and videos from the dci.org website. Not that it is a bad thing because if you love drum corps you’ll take the shows any way you can.

Anyway, this year was another outstanding year for drum corps. The local favorite, Carolina Crown, had another outstanding year and continues to get better every year. But this year’s winner was Phantom Regiment with their Spartacus themed show. Lots of other good shows and it definitely justifies buying the DVD.

Hopefully next year I will get to a show. Maybe if gas prices go down a bit, I can head up to Allentown PA (I grew up 40 minutes from there and could probably stay with family). Or maybe I’ll do something fun and go some place like Orlando.

    We shall see…
